A report of a vessel stranded 16 nautical miles off the coast mobilized the Naval Search and Rescue Team of the Mexican Navy (SEMAR). With support from the Municipal Public Security Secretariat’s Aquatic Rescue Squad, coordinated actions were taken to assist the yacht’s crew.
Gustavo Espinoza Bastidas, commander of the aquatic group, reported that upon reaching the vessel, rescuers provided aid to three crew members, who received basic medical attention before being brought safely to shore.
Meanwhile, Navy personnel carried out preventive maneuvers to avoid the yacht’s sinking and, with the help of a crane, towed the boat to land, where further inspections will determine the cause of the malfunction.
Espinoza Bastidas also noted that, in separate operations, lifeguards rescued three people in two incidents registered at Playa Sábalo Dos.
Thanks to the quick response and rescue protocols, two men and one woman were safely brought from the waves. After evaluation on land, it was determined they only suffered from fatigue and nervous shock. Following the rescues, personnel increased patrols and reinforced safety recommendations to beachgoers to prevent future incidents.
