Navy Begins Withdrawal of Personnel After Assisting Communities Affected by Heavy Rains in Veracruz

The Secretariat of the Navy (Semar) has begun the redeployment of its naval personnel back to their units and facilities to resume regular duties, following their participation in relief efforts across areas affected by recent heavy rains in Veracruz.

According to the agency, after providing assistance in the municipalities of Poza Rica and Álamo, the withdrawal of naval elements began on November 1, following extensive operations in Poza Rica, Álamo, El Higo, Ilamatlán, Ixhuatlán de Madero, Zontecomatlán, Texcatepec, Tempoal, and Zacualpan, among others.

Semar reported that, in response to the emergency and in coordination with federal, state, and municipal authorities, naval personnel provided aid to restore communication routes and infrastructure, repair homes, schools, and public spaces, and reduce the risk of health outbreaks. The Navy also established maritime and air bridges to support medical assistance and distribute food supplies to residents in the affected municipalities.

The institution emphasized that mud and debris cleared from the areas were transported to designated disposal sites, ensuring sanitary conditions and allowing the continuation of recovery efforts by the relevant authorities. These actions aimed to restore normalcy and create safe, clean environments for the affected families.
