Crew Rescued After Boat Capsizes at Playa Gaviotas

The report of a small boat capsizing off the coast of Mazatlán immediately activated rescue protocols by the Aquatic Rescue Squad, part of the Municipal Public Security Secretariat.

Gustavo Espinoza Bastidas, head of the lifeguard corps, reported that the incident occurred near Playa Gaviotas. According to those on board, a wave struck the boat and caused it to overturn in the water.

Tourism service providers who witnessed the event coordinated with lifeguards to rescue the six passengers, who were brought safely to shore and given basic medical evaluation, presenting only symptoms of nervous shock.

Espinoza Bastidas added that the boat was also brought back to shore, where the corresponding procedures will be carried out.


Civil Protection Conducts Fire Evacuation Drill at Panamá Restaurant

With a scenario involving a kitchen-area fire and basic pre-hospital care, personnel from the Municipal Civil Protection Coordination participated in a drill held Tuesday morning at the Panamá restaurant in downtown Mazatlán.

Óscar Roberto Osuna Tirado, Municipal Civil Protection Coordinator, reported that staff designated as first responders demonstrated optimal reaction times.

During the timed exercise, 92 people were successfully evacuated, following the established emergency protocols.
