Cold-Weather Program Activated in Sinaloa as Temperatures Drop: Civil Protection

Roy Navarrete, director of the State Civil Protection agency, reported that Sinaloa has already activated its annual winter-season program as temperatures are expected to decrease in the coming days. He noted that while this climate pattern is common in the state, preventive measures are necessary to reduce risks in vulnerable communities.

He explained that civil protection laws require the implementation of specific safety programs for this season. For this reason, the state is working in coordination with the DIF System and SEBIDES, not only to anticipate weather forecasts but also to establish how residents will be supported during the coldest days.

“The law and regulations require us to have our safety programs. We carry them out together with the DIF System and SEBIDES,” he said.

Navarrete added that the approach goes beyond issuing meteorological notices; it includes organizing the operational response needed to address urgent, weather-related needs among citizens.

He stated that Civil Protection regularly sends weather forecasts to state and municipal institutions to maintain constant monitoring of temperature changes. These reports make it possible to anticipate potential impacts and activate support in areas where the cold is more severe.

The agency also remains attentive to calls and reports from the public, especially on days when sudden drops in temperature are expected. He emphasized that this ongoing monitoring is essential to prevent incidents and provide timely assistance.

The official reiterated that inter-agency coordination is a key part of the state’s operation. This cooperation allows close monitoring of rural communities, mountainous areas, and groups that may need additional support during the winter months.

Finally, Civil Protection urged citizens to stay informed through official channels and follow recommendations in the coming weeks. As cold fronts continue to advance, temperatures are expected to decrease further, and residents are advised to take basic precautions at home and during outdoor activities.
