Mazatlán welcomed a vibrant wave of tourism this Tuesday with the arrival of the Royal Princess, the first of 21 cruise ships scheduled to visit the port throughout December — a month that promises record-breaking activity for the city’s tourism sector.
The Royal Princess arrived early in the morning from Cabo San Lucas, carrying 3,559 passengers and 1,320 crew members, for a total of 4,879 visitors on board. According to local tourism authorities, this single arrival is expected to generate an estimated 6 million pesos in economic impact, benefiting restaurants, tour operators, transportation services, artisanal markets, and businesses across the city.
As soon as docking procedures were completed, hundreds of excited travelers began descending from the ship, eager to explore Mazatlán’s most iconic attractions. Visitors spread across the Malecón, the Centro Histórico, Olas Altas, the Golden Zone, and popular cultural and ecological sites such as the Mazatlán Aquarium and the El Faro viewpoint. Some opted for walking tours, while others explored the city aboard pulmonías, aurigas, and tour buses.
Local vendors and guides reported a lively morning, noting that December’s cruise season is one of the strongest in recent years, with more ships and higher visitor volume than previous seasons.
The Royal Princess will remain in port until 6:00 p.m., when it is scheduled to depart for its next destination: Puerto Vallarta, continuing its voyage along the Mexican Pacific.
With 20 more ships expected this month, Mazatlán is poised to enjoy a highly successful close to 2025, reinforcing its position as one of the premier cruise destinations in Mexico.
