Public Services workers continue their efforts to rehabilitate and maintain the park, where new attractions and family-friendly spaces are already taking shape.
Less than 15 days before the official opening of the Path of Peace project at Mazatlán’s Central Park, city workers are putting the finishing touches on the area, which now features several new installations and improvements.
Among the most anticipated additions is a large photo spot featuring the colorful Mazatlán letters — still covered but soon to be unveiled as the park’s main entrance feature. Food trucks have also been installed at the center of the park, while crews continue to set up and adapt new playground equipment for children, complementing the refurbished play areas already in place.
A basketball hoop has been installed for casual games and 2-on-2 matches, and a new pet recreation area is nearly complete, featuring small obstacles and open space for dogs to roam freely. Meanwhile, the dock area has been fully restored, reopening for canoe and kayak rides.
Amid cleaning, painting, and repairs, municipal teams are working hard to prepare for the official inauguration on November 15, led by Mayor Estrella Palacios, with possible attendance from Governor Rubén Rocha Moya.
The governor also attended the opening of Mazatlán’s first Path of Peace in early September, located in the Santa Fe neighborhood’s soccer field.
“The goal of the Path of Peace is to create a space for cultural, educational, and sports activities,” Mayor Palacios said in a previous interview. “Many of these areas were once abandoned — now they’re being revitalized with murals, green spaces, playgrounds, and recreation areas for families and small businesses.”
