Kendrick Lamar Leads Grammy Nominations

American rapper Kendrick Lamar tops the list of Grammy nominees with nine nominations, followed by Cirkut, Jack Antonoff, and Lady Gaga, each with seven, the Recording Academy announced on Friday.

Puerto Rican artist Bad Bunny earned six nominations, including Song of the Year, Record of the Year, and Album of the Year for DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS (DTMF).

Sabrina Carpenter, Leon Thomas, and Serban Ghenea also rank among the top contenders, each with six nominations.

The fierce competition for Album of the Year includes Lamar with GNX, Bad Bunny with DTMF, Lady Gaga with Mayhem, Justin Bieber with Swag, Sabrina Carpenter with Man’s Best Friend, Clipse (Pusha T & Malice) with Let God Sort ’Em Out, Leon Thomas with Mutt, and Tyler with Chromakopia.

The 95-category ceremony will take place on February 1 in Los Angeles.

Already a three-time Grammy winner, Bad Bunny continues his meteoric rise, leading next week’s Latin Grammy nominations, headlining the Super Bowl Halftime Show in February, and recently hosting Saturday Night Live’s season premiere.

At 31, the global superstar drew inspiration from his Puerto Rican roots for DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS, and will kick off his world tour on November 21 in the Dominican Republic.

Lamar, who dominated the last Grammy Awards with five wins for Not Like Us—his viral track targeting Drake—earned his latest nominations from his new album GNX.

Meanwhile, Lady Gaga marked a triumphant return with Mayhem, a dark, dramatic collection of pop anthems. Her single “Abracadabra” will compete for Song of the Year alongside Lamar’s “Luther” and Bunny’s “DTMF.”

Justin Bieber made his comeback after four years with Swag, led by his chart-topping single “Daisies.” Bieber will join Sabrina Carpenter and Karol G as headliners at Coachella 2026.

Other highlights include three nominations for “Golden,” a hit from Netflix’s animated film KPop Demon Hunters.

The Recording Academy announced it had added 3,800 new members, 58% of whom identify as people of color, with half under 39 years old. Members of the Latin Recording Academy were also invited to participate in the voting process.

On the Latin front, Buena Vista Social Club’s new Broadway ensemble earned a nomination for Best Musical Theater Album, while Mexican composer Edgar Barrera, known for collaborations with Karol G and Juanes, received another nod for Songwriter of the Year.

Notably absent from this year’s nominations are Taylor Swift, whose The Life of a Showgirl was released after the eligibility cutoff of August 30, and Rosalía, who just dropped her new multilingual project Lux, blending classical music and Spanish copla. Both artists will have to wait until next year’s Grammy Awards for consideration.
