Mazatlán Great Marathon 2025 to Close Roads This Sunday

The Mazatlán Great Marathon 2025 will take place this Sunday, November 30, bringing together 6,000 athletes and causing road closures from early morning across the city’s main avenues.

Mazatlán is preparing to host one of its most important sporting events: the 2025 Great Marathon, featuring more than 6,000 runners, including internationally recognized competitors.

Due to the route of the 42K and 21K races, several major roads will be closed starting at dawn — primarily Avenida Leonismo Internacional, Avenida del Mar, Camarón Sábalo, Rafael Buelna, Paseo Claussen, and surrounding areas — so drivers and residents are advised to take precautions.

During last year’s edition, Kenyan runners Kenisi Bundi and Leah Jebbiwot dominated the overall competition, reinforcing the event’s international prestige.

Marathon Route

42K Marathon Route
The 42K race will begin on Avenida Leonismo Internacional in front of the stadium, then head toward Insurgentes and connect to Avenida del Mar, running the full length of the malecón to Paseo Claussen and reaching the Mazatlán Shield, where it will make its first turn.

The race will then continue north along Avenida del Mar and Camarón Sábalo, entering the Marina and Cerritos area near Paseo del Atlántico — the second turn point — before heading back along the same route toward Camarón Sábalo, Avenida del Mar, Insurgentes, and finishing once again at Leonismo Internacional.

21K Half Marathon Route
The Half Marathon will also start on Avenida Leonismo Internacional, descend to Avenida del Mar, move toward Paseo Claussen and reach the Mazatlán Shield for its first return. It will then head north on Avenida del Mar toward Camarón Sábalo, reaching the Albatros area, where runners will make their turn back toward Camarón Sábalo, Avenida del Mar, Insurgentes, and finish at Leonismo Internacional.
