The Mexican Navy (SEMAR) reported that during October, personnel from the Naval Sector of Chila, Nayarit rescued 66 olive ridley sea turtle nests, recovering 6,004 eggs and releasing 15,712 hatchlings of both olive ridley and green turtle species along Playa Chila.
From August 7 to October 31, the operation has totaled 661 recovered nests, accounting for 60,889 eggs rescued and 23,197 baby turtles released into the ocean.
“These actions are carried out continuously through surveillance patrols, employing security elements, ATVs, and trained personnel in the protection of marine species,” SEMAR stated, emphasizing that the goal is to protect nesting beaches, prevent nest poaching, and preserve endangered species such as the olive ridley and green sea turtles.
The Navy reaffirmed its commitment to environmental conservation and the protection of endangered marine life.
