Promoting Environmental Awareness to Preserve the Jaguar’s Habitat Through Children’s Literature

Jardín Botánico Culiacán participates in Mexico City’s Design Open with 98 early childhood books and an educational workshop

Mexico City, October 16, 2025 — Jardín Botánico Culiacán took part in the Abierto de Diseño CDMX (Mexico City Design Open) with 98 books for early childhood readers and an educational workshop, aimed at raising environmental awareness and promoting the preservation of the jaguar’s natural habitat through reading.

The event was held at Papalote Children’s Museum in the children’s library “Brotes”, where Denisse Trujillo, Community Coordinator at Sociedad Botánica, led an engaging workshop titled “Adventures in the Jungle: Getting to Know the Jaguar.” The session captivated children aged 6 to 10 through storytelling, crafts, and creative activities designed to spark imagination and emphasize the importance of environmental conservation, particularly the role of the jaguar in maintaining ecological balance.

“This interactive experience was a way to inspire environmental awareness from an early age and highlight the jaguar’s importance as a key species in Latin America’s biodiversity,” said Denisse Trujillo, presenter and representative of Jardín Botánico Culiacán.

With this participation, the institution reaffirmed its commitment to environmental education and to creating meaningful experiences that combine reading, art, and nature.

For those interested in exploring Culiacán’s green heart, Jardín Botánico is open Monday through Sunday, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., offering a place to connect with nature in all its splendor.
