Security Operation Strengthened in Mazatlán for Día de Muertos

Mayor Estrella Palacios Domínguez announced a reinforced security operation in Mazatlán for the upcoming Día de Muertos celebrations, which will cover both visits to municipal cemeteries and the traditional Callejoneada in the Historic Center.

The mayor explained that the goal is to ensure order and safety for families attending these events throughout the weekend.
“We will have a special security operation this weekend, as our governor announced — with additional support from the Ministry of Security and Citizen Protection, the Navy, the National Guard, the State Police, and the Municipal Police,” said Palacios Domínguez.

This reinforcement will include increased presence of officers in the Historic Center, where the Callejoneada will take place, as well as constant surveillance in the cemeteries, allowing families to visit their loved ones safely and peacefully.

Starting Thursday, inspection tours will be carried out in the cemeteries to ensure that conditions are adequate and ready to receive the thousands of visitors who come every year during these dates.

The mayor also urged citizens to celebrate responsibly and respectfully, emphasizing the importance of public cooperation to maintain order. The operation will include patrols, security checkpoints, traffic supervision, and preventive assistance, with the participation of Civil Protection, Public Services, and Municipal Transit, who will help with logistics, vehicle control, and visitor assistance at local cemeteries.

Authorities expect the highest attendance on November 1 and 2, advising visitors to follow instructions and avoid parking in restricted areas.
