With a brief protocol ceremony in the Honor Courtyard of the National Palace, President Claudia Sheinbaum welcomed her Honduran counterpart, Xiomara Castro, marking the official start of the Honduran leader’s working visit to Mexico.
Following protocol, Sheinbaum stepped out to greet Castro at the Door of Honor — the entrance used for all visiting heads of state. Both national anthems were played, and the official photograph was taken before they proceeded to Sheinbaum’s office for a private meeting.
Castro arrives at the final stage of her presidency, as Honduras will hold its presidential elections this Sunday, and her administration is set to conclude at the end of January.
