President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo announced that six Mexican citizens were detained by Israeli authorities after participating in an international flotilla bound for Gaza, whose mission was to deliver humanitarian aid to the Palestinian population.
During her morning press conference at the National Palace, the president explained that her government has sent four diplomatic notes in recent days to demand physical guarantees for the detained Mexicans, clarification on the reasons for the interception, and the immediate repatriation of the nationals.
“We are against this situation. Humanitarian aid must reach Gaza, and our Mexican brothers and sisters must be repatriated immediately because they committed no crime,” Sheinbaum declared.
Sheinbaum Pardo revealed that the detainees remain at the port without consular support being allowed to enter, while Israeli authorities have reported that they will be transferred to a detention center.
