Boxer Marco Verde has returned to Mazatlán to announce that on December 13, he will step into the ring in his hometown for what he calls the most important fight of his career.
The match will take place at the Centro de Usos Múltiples (CUM), with his opponent yet to be confirmed—though sources suggest a Venezuelan boxer is being considered.
The Paris 2024 Olympic silver medalist met with Mazatlán’s Mayor, Estrella Palacios Domínguez, on Saturday, telling her, “It’s time to fight here!” as he confirmed his readiness to compete before his local fans in a night that will feature around 10 bouts.
Mayor Palacios expressed full municipal support for the event, emphasizing the pride Mazatlán feels for having an athlete of Verde’s caliber. She also thanked him for being a positive role model for children, youth, and adults alike—both inside and outside the ring.
Verde shared that he is in full training mode, aiming to deliver a fight worthy of his hometown. With three international victories already under his belt—in Saudi Arabia, Las Vegas, and Culiacán—he affirmed that this fourth fight will be the most meaningful of his career because it will take place in Mazatlán.
Also present at the meeting were Fabiola Judith Verde Rosas, director of IMDEM; Ángel Fernando Arballo Quintero, Municipal Chief Officer; Heriberto Reséndiz Hernández, Councilman and Coordinator of the Youth and Sports Commission; and Manuel Rojo, who accompanied the boxer
