The incident occurred on October 29 at the base of Mount Everest in the Khumbu region of Nepal, where a group of climbers had become trapped in one of the base camps due to strong winds, heavy snowfall, and extremely low visibility.
A video shows the helicopter attempting to descend amid a sudden storm, causing the pilot to lose control of the aircraft and crash, splitting it apart upon impact.
Another video reveals the aftermath — the wrecked helicopter scattered across the snowy terrain, with several parts detached from the main body.
Local authorities confirmed that the pilot survived the crash but sustained multiple injuries. He was urgently transported to a medical center in Kathmandu, where he is now in stable condition, despite having been exposed to -15°C temperatures and strong winds.
Due to severe weather conditions, rescue teams had to travel by land to reach the stranded climbers. They were safely guided to lower, more secure areas, where they received medical care, food, and heat.
Specialized teams have been deployed to search for any additional survivors in nearby areas and to assess the damage. The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing, though early reports suggest that the sudden storm likely played a decisive role in the accident.
