French President Emmanuel Macron arrived at Mexico’s National Palace on Friday morning, shortly before 9:50 a.m., where he was received by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo in an official welcoming ceremony.
This marks the first official visit by a French head of state to Mexico in eleven years, since François Hollande’s visit in 2014.
During her morning press conference, Sheinbaum announced that she would hold a private meeting with Macron, who is concluding a Latin American tour with this stop in Mexico. The two leaders are expected to discuss economic relations, cooperation in various sectors, and the possible restitution of pre-Hispanic codices to Mexico.
Later, both presidents will lead a business roundtable, while members of their cabinets participate in a bilateral working session.
Around midday, Sheinbaum and Macron will hold a joint press conference. The French president is also scheduled to attend an event at the Club de Industriales, followed by a meeting with the French community in Mexico in the evening, before departing for the airport to return to France.
