Mazatlán Mayor Estrella Palacios Domínguez confirmed that the city’s Christmas Village will open on December 19 with a special surprise show.
She announced that local businesses will once again support the project financially and that decorations and figures are already being installed in Parque Central.
“Yes, preparations for the Christmas Village have already begun. It will take place in Parque Central from December 19 to January 6. We have some new attractions this year that we will announce soon. One of them is the inauguration on the 19th, and we invite everyone to attend. On Saturday, December 20, we will also hold a Christmas concert at the Christmas Village,” she said.
The Mayor chose not to reveal the name of this year’s featured artist just yet.
“We’ll announce it very soon, but we are very grateful for the local business community that has helped make this event possible,” she added, noting that even more companies have joined this year compared to last.
Palacios Domínguez confirmed that the Christmas Village will once again include the ice rink, children’s rides, a festive fair, and the traditional themed Christmas houses in the food area.
She emphasized that there will be new surprises to make the Christmas Village even more fun.
“There will be new attractions so that everyone in Mazatlán can enjoy the Christmas Village just like last year. It will be open for three weeks.”
Regarding investment, the Mayor explained that it will be a combination of public and private funding.
She also mentioned the possibility that some mechanical rides could be free, encouraging residents to participate.
“We’ll announce more details soon. For now, we invite the community to visit Parque Central—it is currently a peaceful place with new paddle boats, a bike path, a new food court, new children’s play areas, and even a new dog park that many people don’t know about.”
She added that the city’s Department of Economic Development and Tourism regularly publishes a calendar of activities, including sports events, cultural events, and outdoor cinema.
“And most importantly, there are free workshops and courses, such as the Environmental Guardians program, Wellness Paws, Native Flowers, and others for children and adults. As the Christmas season approaches, there will also be free workshops for making piñatas and other decorations.”
