Chepe Express Opens Ticket Office in El Fuerte After Two Years of Planning

El Fuerte, Sinaloa.— The iconic Chepe Express, one of Mexico’s most scenic train journeys, has officially announced the opening of a ticket office in El Fuerte, marking a milestone for the municipality and its tourism sector. The inauguration will take place on Thursday, October 2nd, at 4:30 p.m. in the Historic Center of El Fuerte, at the corner of Montesclaros and Constitución streets.

A Journey Through the Copper Canyon

The Chepe Express offers passengers an unforgettable experience: a nine-hour journey covering more than 350 kilometers from Los Mochis, Sinaloa, to Creel, Chihuahua, a Pueblo Mágico nestled in the heart of the Sierra Tarahumara, also known as the Copper Canyon region.

The route crosses one of Mexico’s most impressive mountain ranges, passing through tunnels and over bridges, while offering world-class service, comfort, and stops at five destinations that allow travelers to explore the wonders beyond the canyons.

A Milestone for El Fuerte

Municipal Tourism Director Carlos Adrián Cota Rodríguez emphasized the importance of the new ticket office, describing it as a long-awaited achievement for the community and tourism providers.

“This was a management effort of more than two years, born from the needs of local tourism service providers. Today it has finally become a reality, and we are very happy. This Thursday, October 2nd, El Fuerte will have its own Chepe Express ticket office,” he said.

According to Cota Rodríguez, this step will allow local service providers to design new tourism packages connected to the Chepe journey and collaborate with other businesses in the sector, enriching the overall experience for both citizens and visitors.

Tourism Boost Expected

The opening of the ticket office is expected to strengthen El Fuerte’s role as a gateway to the Copper Canyon and attract more visitors to the municipality. The initiative was made possible thanks to more than two years of collaboration between the local government, the Sinaloa Tourism Secretariat, and Ferromex executives.

Local authorities reiterated the invitation for residents and tourists to attend the grand opening and take advantage of this new opportunity to enjoy one of Mexico’s most spectacular travel experiences.
