MAZATLÁN SHINES ON THE NATIONAL STAGE! GRAN ACUARIO WINS BEST TOURISM PRODUCT AWARD

Another great reason to celebrate Mazatlán!

Mazatlán has another reason to celebrate as Gran Acuario Mazatlán Mar de Cortés receives national recognition, winning the Best Tourism Product Award at Mexico’s prestigious El Ángel del Turismo National Awards, held in Puebla on October 29.

The award highlights the aquarium’s contribution to Mexico’s tourism industry, recognizing its facilities, innovative concept, and the unique experiences it offers to visitors. Located in one of Mazatlán’s most important tourist areas, the aquarium has become a major attraction for both national and international travelers.

One of the reasons behind its recognition is its impressive infrastructure and wide range of exhibits.

Spanning approximately 50,000 square meters, the complex features 19 exhibition halls, four interior courtyards, outdoor exhibition spaces, and a botanical garden. Its design combines architecture, technology, and marine biodiversity to create an experience centered on the natural richness of the Sea of Cortez.

Beyond its attractions, Gran Acuario Mazatlán also places a strong emphasis on environmental education, scientific research, and marine conservation. Through its exhibits and educational activities, visitors can learn about different marine species, their habitats, and the importance of protecting ocean ecosystems.

The award was received by Ernesto Coppel Kelly, the businessman behind the vision and development of the project, alongside Rafael Lizárraga Favela, Executive Director of Gran Acuario Mazatlán. Also attending the ceremony was Mireya Sosa Osuna, Sinaloa’s Secretary of Tourism, who joined in celebrating this achievement for the state.

During his remarks, Ernesto Coppel Kelly praised the people of Sinaloa, describing them as hardworking, dedicated, and determined. He emphasized that these qualities are reflected in Gran Acuario Mazatlán, a project built through vision, investment, and the commitment of the people involved in its development.

This national distinction highlights the aquarium’s role in diversifying Mazatlán’s tourism offerings, providing visitors with an experience that goes beyond traditional sun-and-beach tourism while bringing together entertainment, education, and conservation.

With this achievement, Gran Acuario Mazatlán adds another important recognition to its history, while helping strengthen the destination’s presence within Mexico’s tourism industry.

The recognition also comes at a time when Mazatlán continues to expand its tourism infrastructure and attract new investments aimed at strengthening its position in the national and international market. Attractions such as Gran Acuario Mazatlán contribute to broadening the destination’s appeal, offering visitors more opportunities to explore the city beyond its beaches, hotels, and traditional tourist activities.

As one of the region’s most ambitious tourism projects, Gran Acuario Mazatlán represents an important addition to the state’s tourism portfolio. Its national recognition places a spotlight on Sinaloa’s growing range of attractions and highlights the role that large-scale cultural, educational, and recreational projects play in attracting visitors to the region.
