On November 4, Mexico’s representative at Miss Universe 2025, Fátima Bosch, drew public attention after expressing her frustration and disappointment to the media following a heated argument with Mr. Nawat Itsaragrisil, Vice President for the Eastern Region of the competition. The incident reportedly occurred during a midday meeting that same day.
Fátima stated that she felt insulted and disrespected, claiming that Mr. Nawat called her “stupid” and shouted “shut up!” at her despite having done nothing wrong.
“I love Thailand deeply and respect everyone here, but this is unacceptable. The world needs to know because we are strong women, and no one has the right to silence us,” she declared.
The Mexican beauty queen emphasized that she has no personal issues with the production team and still feels a special affection for Thailand, the host country of this year’s pageant.
“If someone takes away your dignity — crown or not — stand up and walk away,” she added.
Fátima spoke to reporters after leaving the meeting room, visibly upset.
Earlier during that meeting with contestants, Mr. Nawat reportedly adopted a harsh and authoritarian tone, demanding that countries that “failed to cooperate with the product promotion team” admit their mistakes — but no one responded. He then singled out Mexico’s representative, accusing her of refusing to post promotional photos of Thailand.
Tensions escalated when another contestant spoke up in protest, angering Mr. Nawat further. He ordered her to sit down and called for security. The confrontation left several contestants in tears, and many walked out of the meeting, while Mr. Nawat shouted, “Whoever leaves does not need to return for the exam!”
During that same session, Mr. Nawat also revealed that four Miss Universe staff members had been expelled for allegedly participating in illegal gambling promotion activities.
The incident sparked international outrage, with fans and media expressing disappointment over the situation, which has thrown Miss Universe 2025 into controversy just days before its main events.
Meanwhile, the Thai police have reportedly intervened in the ongoing dispute after Mr. Nawat accused some organizers of promoting illegal casino operations. Despite the turmoil, Huong Giang, the representative from Vietnam, continues to stand out amid the scandal.
