The Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection (Profepa) rescued a family of black bears spotted in the municipality of Bustamante, Nuevo León.
According to the institution’s statement, it was a female bear with her cubs searching for food in the urban area of the town. “We relocated them to a Natural Protected Area (ANP), where the family will find a suitable habitat,” the agency reported in a video shared on its social media platforms.
The last viral sighting of bears in Bustamante occurred on October 7, when a family of three bears unexpectedly interrupted a backyard barbecue.
Authorities did not confirm whether it was the same family of bears seen earlier this month.
Although there is no exact record of wildlife sightings in Nuevo León, Civil Protection officials advise citizens that if they encounter these animals, they should remain calm and immediately notify the authorities.
