Three tourists were rescued on Saturday afternoon after being swept by strong currents at two Mazatlán beaches, according to the city’s Aquatic Rescue Squad.
The first incident took place at Gaviotas Beach, where a tourist was pulled out by the waves and became too exhausted to swim back to shore. Rescue personnel entered the water and brought the individual safely back. The tourist showed no injuries, only fatigue and signs of a panic episode.
A second rescue occurred at Camarón Beach, where lifeguards assisted two more swimmers experiencing similar conditions. Both were safely removed from the water and evaluated, presenting nervous shock and tiredness but no major injuries.
According to Mazatlán’s Public Security Department, the tourists were visiting from Querétaro and León.
Authorities remind visitors to follow lifeguard instructions and remain cautious, especially when currents are strong.
