The Greatest Party on Mexico’s Pacific Coast
The city of Mazatlán is preparing for its most anticipated event of the year—Carnaval de Mazatlán 2026, taking place from Wednesday, February 12 through Monday, February 17. Recognized as one of the largest and oldest Carnivals in the world, Mazatlán’s edition stands out for its deep cultural roots, artistic displays, and dazzling seaside atmosphere.
The celebration stretches across the vibrant Centro Histórico, especially the Olas Altas neighborhood, and unfolds along the iconic Malecón, Mazatlán’s picturesque oceanfront promenade. It is here, between colonial charm and sea breeze, where the soul of the Carnival comes alive.
A Week of Concerts and Celebrations
From February 12 to 17, Mazatlán becomes the stage for some of Mexico’s biggest musical acts. Each night, open-air concerts are held in multiple points of the city, especially in Olas Altas and along the Malecón. These concerts are free to the public and welcome thousands of attendees—locals and visitors alike—dancing under the stars to banda, pop, rock, cumbia, and more.
Parade of Floats: A Moving Work of Art
The Gran Desfile de Carnaval, or Parade of Floats, is the crown jewel of the festivities. It takes place on Sunday, February 15 and again on Tuesday, February 17, bringing to life an explosion of creativity and tradition. Gigantic themed floats, dancers in shimmering costumes, brass bands, jugglers, queens, and kings of Carnaval wave to crowds that line the entire Malecón.
Children sit on shoulders, cameras flash, and music fills the air. It is one of the most anticipated events for all generations.
Combate Naval: History in the Sky
On Saturday night, the skies above Mazatlán ignite with one of the most spectacular events of Carnaval: the Combate Naval. This is no ordinary fireworks show—it’s a pyrotechnic reenactment of a 19th-century naval battle in which Mazatlán repelled foreign invaders.
Explosions light up the sea in rhythm with music, telling the story of resistance and victory. Boats illuminated in the dark waters add a theatrical dimension to the event, making it one of the most visually stunning spectacles in all of Mexico.
Carnaval: A Shared Heartbeat
Mazatlán’s Carnaval is more than a party—it’s a living tradition, a cultural expression, and a unifying force. It’s where locals and international visitors gather as one, celebrating joy, identity, and community spirit.
Mazatlán opens its arms to the world. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a long-time resident, Carnaval 2026 invites you to dance, to sing, to celebrate life—and to fall in love with Mazatlán again and again.
